Liberal Democrat Councillor for Stansted North on Uttlesford District Council and former Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group Learn more

Last Thursday’s Saffron Walden Reporter laid down a robust challenge to Uttlesford District Council. The front page story on the 15-year local plan confronted the council with the demand “Look at objections and listen to our questions!”
That’s the strongest test of this council’s actions by the local press test that I can remember. Read the full story here plus letter page 6 and letter page 7.
The papers last week were again full of disdainful letters about the council’s handling of its local plan. In view of the recent debacle in Stansted over UDC trying to abolish employment land in the town centre, I penned a letter to editors. An edited-down version has appeared in today’s Walden Local alongside a letter from Cllr David Morson and others.
Tomorrow’s Reporter should make interesting reading. Will we see the first signs of humility and openness that has so far been absent?
