Liberal Democrat Councillor for Stansted North on Uttlesford District Council and former Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group Learn more

The linked letter has been sent to The Rt. Hon. James Brokenshire MP calling on him to call-in the decision of Uttlesford District Council’s Planning Committee to expand the throughput of Stansted Airport.
I told local newspapers this week: “The decision was made on national party-political grounds. It should have been based on local planning policies, including noise, road and rail congestion. Only Conservative councillors voted for expansion. They asked very few questions and seemed to be following pre-determined instructions. Using Brexit to justify airport expansion is a mockery of the principle of local impartial decision making”.
My last post on this subject summarises what happened at the 14 November planning committee.
