Here’s what The Guardian’s Comment is Free thinks today is a solution.
Meanwhile, Uttlesford is to resume its Local Development Framework never-ending project. Like at many councils, work was effectively put on hold when the prospect of a non-Labour government was on the horizon last year. The Conservatives seemed to promise that no council needed to plan for “unwanted homes”, but now want housing number raised by 20% above past plans. It’s now been realised that if you bury your head in the sand for too long, your feathers get clipped! This morning’s radio reported a slump in housing planning approvals in the past year. And Conservative ministers have this week been slagging off the National Trust and others for getting worked up about the coalition’s laissez faire planning regime. August is supposed to be the ‘silly season’. Roll on Sensible September!
Time for a Bank Holiday!
