Liberal Democrat Councillor for Stansted North on Uttlesford District Council and former Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group Learn more

Reports on two planning applications in Stansted Mountfitchet have been published in advance of the planning committee’s meeting next Wednesday, May 30th. Both have caused much controversy. The health centre application has created enthusiastic support and vigorous opposition.
This report is silent on the views Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council as they came to UDC too late for inclusion. The delay was caused by Essex County Council’s own much delayed evaluation of highway proposals, which the parish council rightly insisted on waiting for before taking a view on the whole application. I have told planning officers that I do not consider it acceptable for the parish council’s views to be reported only verbally on the day. Committee members will not have time to absorb them on the day. I am hoping that a supplementary report will be issued before the meeting. The parish council’s comments effectively say it does not accept the application as it stands on a whole range of issues.
