Alan was a lovely man. He had time for everybody and was liked and admired by all who knew him.
I will miss our weekend chats and his gentle, kindly, reassuring manner. He will be missed.
I first met Alan circa 2005/2006 when I worked in Government Office in Cambridge and looked after Bedfordshire and Luton planning issues. Alan was Planning officer for Luton so I got to know him fairly well in that time. After he left Luton I would often meet him in Saffron Walden and we would go for a pint together. In more recent years I would see him at David Lloyds in Cambridge where he played tennis on a Thursday. I emailed him about 10 days ago to suggest meeting up and wondered why he hadn’t replied. I only heard the news today from a client and am very saddened by it. He was one of the “good people”.
It is with great sadness that I learnt today Dec 28th of Alans passing. Alan was a dear friend of mine. I googled him today as I have not been able to get hold of him. Alan and I roomed together from 1970 to 1973 in London and he became a close friend of the family. On frequent visits to England from my home in Canada we saw each other and went to football games and he stayed with my brother. My spouse, brothers and sister will all miss him he was a great guy and a wonderful friend.
