Afternoon Tea with Shirley Williams

by Alan Dean on 19 April, 2017

I will be having Afternoon Tea in Stansted with Baroness Shirley Williams on Saturday.
The following is an extract from the publicity material that has resulted in a “full house” for what promises to be a well timed event as a result of the expected General Election in June. Shirley was on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning raising concern about Theresa May’s apparent wish to suppress challenge and opposition to her approach to Brexit.
AFTERNOON TEA WITH SHIRLEY WILLIAMS

Now Shirley Williams has retired from the House of Lords she has found some free time in her diary and will be taking afternoon tea with the local Liberal Democrats and members of the public in Stansted.
Saturday 22nd April
at
The Crafton Green Day Centre, Chapel Hill, Stansted CM24 8AB
Doors open at 3:30 and Afternoon Tea will be served at 4:00
“Shirley is a liberal lion. She is a hero of many, many others. She is a tireless and doughty campaigner for progressive politics. Britain is a better place because of her.
“Her determination created the enlightened comprehensive education system we have today.
“Shirley is also an inspiration for female politicians across the world. She is a trailblazer who has shown girls, like my own, that they can do anything they want to with skill, determination and passion.
“Shirley Williams gives politics a good name.”
