Health Centre Exhibition

by Alan Dean on 29 January, 2011

Thursday’s exhibition of a commercial development that could include a new health centre for Stansted was well attended. The exhibition at the Hilton Cars site in Lower Street was busy when I visited at 4 pm.

There wasn’t much to see; only four panels of information. A model of the site and building wasn’t ready for the public to see. Of course, it wasn’t an NHS exhibition; no details of the health facilities. The Primary Care Trust needs to tell us its intentions. (More generally in Uttlesford the PCT seems to have stopped turning up at meetings about health and social issues. They seem to be preparing for dismemberment under coalition plans for the NHS. I feel sorry for the NHS staff. This does not bode well.)

There was no information about the traffic implications, which could be enormous. The idea of restricting the free flow of traffic at the bottom of Chapel Hill, with the potential for queues backing up the hill and causing gridlock – as now occurs in Grove Hill – does alarm me.

I am also concerned at the imact on the existing public car park owned by Uttlesford District Council, so am seeking discussions with council officers.  Geoffrey Sell and I have this weekend written to the chairman of the NHS West Essex PCT seeking clarification about the status of the project.
