The following message was circulated round the council this morning by the chief executive:

“We are flying the Rainbow Flag today.  As I am sure you will remember, this is the flag of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender movement.  LGBT History Month takes place in February every year, and celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community.  As a major employer, we have a commitment to sexual orientation equality and we hope to demonstrate a strong leadership message on the importance of LGB Equality in the workplace and in the community.

“All of us will welcome and appreciate the importance of the message we are sending today.”
